Preschool graduation is an important time in your preschooler’s life. Finishing preschool is your child’s first huge life accomplishment, and celebrating that accomplishment helps build a sense of pride. Here’s how to celebrate your child’s preschool graduation, so they’re feeling confident for kindergarten.

The word graduation spelled out in gold balloons with gold confetti all around, against a black background

HOMESCHOOL GRADUATION

It’s important for a homeschooled preschooler to be celebrated for their accomplishments, just the same as any other student. Here’s how you can make sure your homeschooled preschooler transitions into kindergarten with the sense of accomplishment they deserve.

Host A Ceremony

If you have a preschooler that shines in the spotlight, they’re going to love having their very own graduation ceremony. The memories are worth going all out for. Here’s some things you’ll need to do to plan an awesome graduation ceremony.

1. Decide On A Venue

Your backyard, or even a park would be great places to have a graduation ceremony, you don’t have to book a fancy venue, but you’re welcome to!

2. Send Invitations

Make sure to include all your friends at family and this special event!

3. Order A Cap And Gown

Check out Oriental Trading Company or GraduationOutlet for great deals on caps and gowns.

4. Plan Food And Decor

You can have a quick ceremony, or decide to have a celebration after! If you’re not planning a party you can probably skip the food, but we wouldn’t recommend skipping the decorations.

While you’re browsing through cap and gown options, keep looking through Oriental Trading Company and you won’t be able to pass up on their adorable party decor.

5. Put Together Music/Slideshow/Speech

Make sure to plan some music to play during the ceremony. If you want to go all out you can even put together a slideshow of your child’s time in preschool. Giving a small speech before your child walks across the stage is a great way to show how proud you are of their accomplishments.

6. Have Pictures Done

Professional photos are great, but there’s nothing wrong with pulling out your phone and taking a million yourself instead. Just make sure these moments are captured somehow because they’re definitely ones you will want to look back on. If you’re going to be busy with the ceremony, recruit a family member to capture the moments you aren’t able to.

7. Get A Diploma

Download this free preschool diploma you can edit right from your computer and print for the big day!

8. Don’t Forget The Guest Book

Have something for your guests to sign so your preschooler can look back and have a memory of all of the people that supported their first academic accomplishment.

Search For Local Ceremony

If all of that sounds completely exhausting, don’t worry! Try searching facebook for local homeschool groups, and find out if anyone is hosting any local graduation ceremonies your child can be a part of. If facebook isn’t working out try a google search for local homeschool graduation ceremonies.

TRADITIONAL GRADUATION

If your preschooler had a traditional graduation, they already got the sense of pride from walking across the stage, but it never hurts to add to an already special occasion! To create a truly memorable preschool graduation:

Have A Graduation Party

Your preschooler made it through preschool, and got their very first diploma! That’s definitely party worthy. You can plan a party just for your special graduate, or plan a class party. Getting the entire class together at a park for a giant pot luck together is a great way for the student’s to celebrate their accomplishments together.

Whatever kind of party you have, someone will need to handle:

  • Location
  • Invitations
  • Food
  • Decorations
  • Cake
  • Games/Activities

If you’re having a class party, these tasks can be divided amongst all of the parents. If you don’t have the help of other preschool parents, find everything you need to set up a great party at Oriental Trading Company.

Also, grab these adorable invitations from Amazon and make sure all of your friends and family get a chance to come celebrate with you.

Have A Special Night

A party isn’t the only way to celebrate. Even just the two of you can have a special night. If you want to pass on the party decorations, no problem! Try surprising them with a trip to their favorite place, a trip to somewhere new, or even just have a meal at home and watch a favorite movie together.

What matters the most is that they know you are proud of them, and they can look back on their preschool graduation with fond memories of celebrating their accomplishments.
