You might teach 10 classes each week, does that mean you have to prepare TEN different lessons! One of the benefits of using our preschool curriculum is the ability to teach the same preschool curriculum for 4 classes in a row!
What Does Your Lesson Schedule Look Like?
A local preschool with morning and afternoon classes Monday through Friday will have a total of 10 classes each week, but there will be four groups of children in those classes.
Your class schedule will look like this:
- M_W_F a.m.class
- M_W_F p.m.class
- T_Th a.m class
- T_Th p.m class
This is what your lesson schedule will look like:
LESSON A | LESSON B | LESSON C |
Monday a.m. class | Wednesday a.m. class | Friday a.m. class |
Monday p.m. class | Wednesday p.m. class | Friday p.m. class |
Tuesday a.m. class | Thursday a.m. class | |
Tuesday p.m. class | Thursday p.m. class |
You only need to prepare and teach three lessons for the entire week and you will be teaching Lessons A and B four times each, and Lesson C twice.
You Will Get Better And Better Each Time You Teach The Same Lesson!
Since you will be repeating the same lesson four times, by the time you teach it to your fourth class you will be really good at teaching that lesson. As you teach you will discover what works well and what doesn’t work quite so well. Jot down notes of things to add, remove, or change for the next class.
What About A Student Who Comes To Class 5 Days A Week?
Occasionally you may have a student who attends Monday-Friday. Will they get bored doing the same lesson twice? Maybe, but children learn a lot by repetition so they may enjoy it. If the child needs a little more, have them be your helper. Let them hold the book, or get the snacks set up. During craft time, you could plan to let them do an exploratory art project or allow them to spend more time at a center they enjoy.
