Instead of going on a field trip, you can invite guest speakers into your preschool class to add more fun and variety into your students’ learning. This post has some great guest speaker tips and ideas!
Why Have A Guest Speaker Come To Your Preschool Class?
There are many ways to teach your preschool curriculum, but what if someone else could teach for you for a short time? Guest speakers are a great way to reinforce concepts you have been learning in class, give your students hands-on experiences without leaving the classroom, and take the teaching responsibilities off of you for a short time. Plus, when a real live firefighter (or chef, or architect…) can make their topic fun and exciting, the children will be very interested in what they have to say.
Great Ideas for Preschool Guest Speakers
Where do you find these awesome resources? The answer is just about anywhere!
Spend some time brainstorming the people in your community. What do they do for a living? Do any of them have cool hobbies? Do they know someone with an interesting job? What do your preschool parents do for a living? Drive around looking at businesses, what kinds of things do you see that could be interesting for your class?
Here is a list of possibilities:
- A Black Belt

How To Get Guest Speakers For Your Preschool Class
How do you get these people to agree to come speak to your class? You ask them. It is usually as simple as that. If you have some kind of connection with them, they may do it as a favor to you, if not they may do it in exchange for some advertising to your preschool families.
They may agree to do it because they like kids, or because it sounds fun. Some of them may charge for their services. But even if they say no, there are a lot more guest speakers to invite to come into your preschool class.
