If you’d like to build your preschoolers math skills, make sure that you don’t forget about helping them measure items.
WHY PRESCHOOLERS SHOULD MEASURE ITEMS
Preschoolers need to learn how to measure items so they can learn how to make comparisons of items with different weights and sizes. Understanding measurements is important for your preschooler to perform every day tasks, such as pouring a glass of milk. When your preschooler understands measurements, they will be able to use that knowledge to add more milk to a glass that’s not full, and stop pouring before the glass overflows. Knowledge of measurements can also help your preschooler understand when something is too heavy for them to lift, which may prevent them from trying to do something that could hurt them.
