If you’d like to build your preschoolers math skills, make sure that you don’t forget about helping them count money.
WHY PRESCHOOLERS SHOULD COUNT MONEY
Learning to count money sets important foundational math skills for your preschooler to expand on, and starts to teach them that there is value in money. Understanding that the things they have cost something of value can help teach your preschooler to respect their belongings, and appreciate what they have. When your preschooler sees something at the store that they want, but it isn’t necessarily in the budget, it can be helpful to be able to explain to them that the cost of the item is more than you can spend right now.
