Preschoolers are just beginning to develop self control. Self control is a vital life skill that is needed for successful social interactions. Having a strong sense of self control makes it possible for children to make decisions and respond to stress in appropriate ways.
Children with strong self control skills think before they act, which makes them better able to control their actions when they are experiencing big emotions. Self control is also a top kindergarten readiness skill.
