KINDERGARTEN DETAILED SCHEDULE

BEFORE CLASS STARTS

  • Put the morning worksheets on each child’s place at the tables
  • Put individual snacks (use cups if needed) on the counter by the sink by the back door (use class snack container located in the bottom right cupboard by the big sink; look at allergy list before serving)
  • On front board, change so that the sticky note in the pink group goes to the blue group, and the blue group goes to the pink group
  • Scramble helper’s name by the Wheel of Words

8:30 a.m. WELCOME STUDENTS/MORNING WORK

  • Open the front door and wave with a big smile; introduce yourself
  • Welcome students and ask them to go upstairs to the classroom
  • Check to see if anyone else is coming, then shut the front door
  • Students will wash hands, hang up their backpacks, and return their books into the red pouches hanging on the wall; once everyone’s book is in a pouch, rotate each book one spot to the right (start at Alyvia, and move Alyvia’s book to Brooklyn’s pouch, and Brooklyn’s book to Claire’s pouch, etc.)
  • After all books have rotated, call each child’s name, hand them their new book and they will put their new books in their book bags, then they’ll put their book bags into their cubbies or backpack
  • Students sit down at their table and do their morning work; correct as a class, then students should put their worksheets into their cubbies
  • Take attendance (located in the wall box by the pencil sharpener)
  • Ask students to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance:
    • “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
  • Sing patriotic song: “Grand Ol’ Flag” or “This Land Is Your Land”
  • Find out who the helper is by unscrambling the name by the Wheel of Words; spin wheel to ask students to tell you a vowel or consonant

8:45 a.m. MAGIC CORNER/MATH JOURNALS

  • Ask students to join you in the Magic Corner; they should push in their chairs and sit on the rug; helper sits on the white chair
  • Do calendar; helper will put date on calendar, count the straws, and color the weather; read poem together as class
  • Ask students to get their math journals and sit down at tables; open journals to next page, glue on math strip (from lesson plan), and do the math problem together (draw on board as they draw in journals); students should put math journals back in cubbies when done

9:00 a.m. READING

9:45 a.m. RECESS

  • Students put on their coats and line up by back door; count each child and lead the line outside through the back door, down the stairs, and on the ramp; assist children with social interactions and gross motor play (no gym materials on play structure; chalk used only on patio)
  • When finished, clean up all gym materials (ropes/hoops/balls etc.) and close sandbox to make sure no sand is showing; line children up by gate, count again and lead the class inside the same way

10:00 a.m. SNACK/SHARE TIME

  • Students should take off coats, wash hands, get their snack, and sit down at their tables to eat
  • A few students will do share time (list located on the wall by the pencil sharpener); when each child is finished sharing, he/she may ask for two questions or comments
  • Fill BEE binders with morning work (and any miscellaneous papers in cubbies) while kids are doing share; check for notes from parents

10:10 a.m. EXPLAIN CENTERS

  • Pass out blue and pink lanyards (located on the cupboard door by the red table) according to the groups on the front board

10:20 a.m. CENTERS

  • During centers, you’ll be helping at the red table where the “Teacher” station is; assist others as needed;
  • Each station/center will be 10 minutes (5 rounds of 10 minutes).  You will need to ring the bell (located on teacher’s station) to signal it’s time to move; the kids will look at their lanyards and move to their next station
  • If they finish a center early, they can get a book, a board, or something in the blue 3-drawer container by the bookshelf

11:10 a.m. GET READY TO LEAVE

  • Ask students to clean up their area around the tables, then put BEE binders inside backpacks (make sure) and put on coats/backpacks

11:15 a.m. WALK STUDENTS OUTSIDE

  • Lead the line downstairs and wait outside as students stand on suns
  • Tell the parents a few things about what you did during the day, then say: “Go give your friends and family a big hug!”
  • Say goodbye to everyone; if any students have not been picked up, take them back to the classroom and wait for their parent.  If anyone remains 10 minutes after pickup time, text (Name: Phone #).

We are so excited for everyone to arrive!  We gather at the circle rug to work on our cognitive, social, language & gross motor skills with calendar, weather, jobs, and story time.

Our playground areas include play structures, swings, slides, sand boxes, balls, hula hoops, scooters, and more!  You’ll think we’re just playing, but we’re actually working on our social, emotional, language, and gross motor skills as we run, jump, climb, swing, and create games.

We work on all our skills as we rotate through different centers in the classroom, including small group work at the Teacher Station, math worksheets at the Table Work Station, journal prompts at the Writing Station, math and phonics games at the Computer Station, manipulatives at the Explore Station, and audio books at the Quiet Reading Station.
