- Put individual snacks (use cups if needed) on the counter by the sink by the back door (use class snack container located in the bottom right cupboard by the big sink; look at allergy list before serving)
- On front board, change so that the sticky note in the pink group goes to the blue group, and the blue group goes to the pink group
- Scramble helper’s name by the Wheel of Words
8:30 a.m. WELCOME STUDENTS/MORNING WORK
- Open the front door and wave with a big smile; introduce yourself
- Welcome students and ask them to go upstairs to the classroom
- Check to see if anyone else is coming, then shut the front door
- Students will wash hands, hang up their backpacks, and return their books into the red pouches hanging on the wall; once everyone’s book is in a pouch, rotate each book one spot to the right (start at Alyvia, and move Alyvia’s book to Brooklyn’s pouch, and Brooklyn’s book to Claire’s pouch, etc.)
- After all books have rotated, call each child’s name, hand them their new book and they will put their new books in their book bags, then they’ll put their book bags into their cubbies or backpack
- Students sit down at their table and do their morning work; correct as a class, then students should put their worksheets into their cubbies
- Take attendance (located in the wall box by the pencil sharpener)
- Ask students to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance:
- “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
- Sing patriotic song: “Grand Ol’ Flag” or “This Land Is Your Land”
- Find out who the helper is by unscrambling the name by the Wheel of Words; spin wheel to ask students to tell you a vowel or consonant
8:45 a.m. MAGIC CORNER/MATH JOURNALS
- Ask students to join you in the Magic Corner; they should push in their chairs and sit on the rug; helper sits on the white chair
- Do calendar; helper will put date on calendar, count the straws, and color the weather; read poem together as class
- Ask students to get their math journals and sit down at tables; open journals to next page, glue on math strip (from lesson plan), and do the math problem together (draw on board as they draw in journals); students should put math journals back in cubbies when done
9:00 a.m. READING
9:45 a.m. RECESS
- Students put on their coats and line up by back door; count each child and lead the line outside through the back door, down the stairs, and on the ramp; assist children with social interactions and gross motor play (no gym materials on play structure; chalk used only on patio)
- When finished, clean up all gym materials (ropes/hoops/balls etc.) and close sandbox to make sure no sand is showing; line children up by gate, count again and lead the class inside the same way
10:00 a.m. SNACK/SHARE TIME

- Each station/center will be 10 minutes (5 rounds of 10 minutes). You will need to ring the bell (located on teacher’s station) to signal it’s time to move; the kids will look at their lanyards and move to their next station
