If you’d like to build your preschooler’s math skills, make sure that you don’t forget about helping them to understand size difference.
WHY PRESCHOOLERS SHOULD UNDERSTAND SIZE DIFFERENCE
Preschoolers begin to notice the differences in sizes very early in life, making learning about size an important first step in developing math skills. Because your child is already noticing things like shapes, colors, and sizes, they just need help putting words to what they’re seeing. Understanding size helps your preschooler learn concepts like full and empty, or short and long.
When your preschooler understands size differences, they can apply their understanding to every day life. For instance, a preschooler that understands size may know they should be gentle with a small animal, or even understand that they only get a few more minutes to play.
