Can I Start A Preschool Without a Degree?

If you don’t have a degree in Early Childhood Education, or any other field for that matter, we have great news for you! Find out how you can start a preschool without a degree!

Of course, even if your state does require you to have a certain degree or a certain amount of experience, (few do!) they all also have a rule that states that you can teach a certain amount of students without needing a license. In Idaho, for example, you can teach up to 6 preschoolers at a time without needing a license.

If you’re thinking that you aren’t qualified to start a preschool without a degree, then consider this: just because someone has a certain degree, or even a certain amount of experience, that doesn’t necessarily make them qualified to start a preschool. There are many other things that should qualify you to start a preschool.

Here are some qualifications you should have in order to start a successful preschool:

1. You Are Loving To Children

If you enjoy being around children and, especially if you enjoy playing with them and showing them new concepts and skills, you have one of the qualifications needed to start a preschool. The ability to spend time with children while remaining patient, calm, encouraging, and able to  provide instruction is a major qualification for starting a preschool.

2. You Are Committed To Following Developmentally Appropriate Practice In Your Preschool

It’s okay if you don’t know EVERYTHING there is to know about teaching preschool students. If you are committed to learning the proper things to teach and the proper way to teach them, you have this qualification.

Where do you learn these things? Preschool System offers step by step training to not only teach you the business side of starting a preschool, but also to teach you the developmentally appropriate practices you need to know.

3. You Do Not Give Up On Creating The Best Preschool In Your Community

Starting a preschool can be challenging. You will run into some snafus along the way. You might even have some setbacks, but if you keep going. If you get the training and support you need through our recommended training programs, you can and will create an amazing preschool.

What To Do If You Live In One Of the Few States That Require A Certain Kind Of Degree

You can start a preschool by teaching up to the maximum number of students at one time, and if you want to teach more students later, you can get licensed. (It’s not hard to get licensed!) OR you can start an online preschool, as there’s no requirements to teach online preschool.

Where there’s a will there’s a way. If you meet the above requirements, you can start a preschool without a degree.
