PRESCHOOL BUSINESS ADDRESS

In most legal forms with your city, state, and IRS, you can list your home address as your mailing address without any concerns. However, when you operate a business, your address will be listed in many places online as well.

Business Phone Number and Address for Your Preschool

As most of you are operating your preschools from your homes, you’ll need to decide whether you’re comfortable listing your home address (as your business address) in the places online below as well. (NOTE: We will set up all these steps later.)

WEBSITE

  • Local preschool: technically you could say “We’re located in the _____ subdivision (or at the cross streets of ______ and _____.)”
  • Online preschool: you don’t need to list your address

ONLINE LISTING IN GOOGLE (Google My Business)

  • Local preschool: you will DEFINITELY want to use your home address as they require a physical address to receive a postcard. You’ll want everyone to know how close your preschool is to them.
  • Online preschool: this step is optional but it does require a physical address to receive a postcard. Whatever address you list will be the address shown in Google for your business.

FACEBOOK BUSINESS PAGE

  • Local preschool: technically you could say “We’re located in the _____ subdivision (or at the cross streets of ______ and _____.)”
  • Online preschool: you don’t need to list your address

If you’re comfortable using your home address as shown above, then you do not need to get a separate address. If you’re NOT comfortable using your home address as shown above, then you DO need to get a separate business address so you can keep your home address private online.

PRESCHOOL BUSINESS PHONE NUMBER (Google Voice)

Business Phone Number and Address for Your Preschool

If you want to separate your personal life from your business, I suggest you get a business phone number. You can get a free one from Google Voice (do NOT set it up when you’re inside Google Workplace though!)

Why You Would Want a Separate Business Number:

  • Local Preschool:
    • A LOT of people will have your phone number, as that will be the primary way you market: “call to take a tour & reserve your spot.”
  • Online Preschool:
    • The more places you put your phone number when setting up accounts, the higher likelihood you’ll get more spam business calls.

Why Everyone Should Use a Business Number:

  • When you sell your preschool one day, you’ll have to include in the asset sale the phone number associated to your preschool. If it’s your personal number, you’ll lose that number.
  • When you want to “turn off” business for the day, you can put on “do not disturb” mode on your Google Voice; it will still receive calls/texts but it won’t notify you. You can look at them the next day instead.
