If you’d like to build your preschooler’s life skills, make sure that you don’t forget about helping them learn how to get dressed.

WHY PRESCHOOLERS SHOULD LEARN HOW TO GET DRESSED

It’s important for preschoolers to learn how to dress themselves in order to be prepared for the demands of kindergarten, where they will be expected to handle using the restroom on their own. In addition to being prepared for kindergarten, being able to dress themselves gives preschoolers a sense of accomplishment and boosts their self confidence. Even children this age should be able to express themselves, and choosing their own clothing is often a first step in self expression.

Learning to tie shoe laces, button buttons, and pull on articles of clothing all build your preschooler’s fine motor skills, which focus on the small muscles in your preschooler’s hands that help them learn to properly hold a pencil and write.
