WHY PRESCHOOLERS SHOULD DEMONSTRATE ALPHABET KNOWLEDGE
Being able to demonstrate alphabet knowledge is an important foundation in building your preschooler’s language and literacy skills. Identifying letters and their sounds is the first step in your preschooler learning how to read and write. When your preschooler can recognize letters, they can start to understand the correlation between the written and the spoken word. Your preschooler will begin to recognize letters in words and start sounding out the words out one letter at a time before being able to string letters together to sound out full words.
